It is with great sorrow that we come together today with the departure of our president and dear friend, Fr. Julio Giulietti, S.J. We have all come here to seek the truth, and to know and understand what has happened within the university walls and what has become of the reputation of WJU. In this light, please invite anyone to read the blog and feel free to comment as you wish.

We should give Mr. McAteer the benefit of the doubt, assume his good faith, and assume that financial and management errors made during his watch were unintentional, until proven otherwise.
ReplyDeleteEven so, the situation indicates a want of knowledge and experience -- or organizational incompetence if you will. Such problems are predictable, if not inevitable, when large federally-funded programs, carrying enormous regulatory burdens, are undertaken by a small organization lacking the necessary experience or resources for proper management.
This is the downside of accepting ByrdPork. In the long run, when WJU fully understands the labyrinth of federal accounting rules, the bad publicity and expense attendant to whistleblower lawsuits, the vagaries of federal budgets, and the headache of mothballing empty facilities, WJU will learn that the ByrdBuildings are more burden than benefit to the University. He who pays the piper calls the tune, as they say. Contrary to what Washington politicos promise, there really is no free lunch. Bureaucrats themselves rarely understand the true costs of bureaucracy.
WJU must ween itself from the teet of ByrdPork and find ways to sustain itself consistent with its mission. Or else, change its mission.

This site is inflammatory and does little to help our school. We need positive energy and not the negative energy that this site seems to encourage. We need to focus on what can be done not what has been done. We need alumni who are helping not harming the school. If you trully care about WJU close this site.
