Welcome

It is with great sorrow that we come together today with the departure of our president and dear friend, Fr. Julio Giulietti, S.J. We have all come here to seek the truth, and to know and understand what has happened within the university walls and what has become of the reputation of WJU. In this light, please invite anyone to read the blog and feel free to comment as you wish.

Any posts with profanity are not welcome, otherwise, please speak your mind. You are a part of this university and we want to hear your voice!

  1. Chickens coming home to roost. Why has there been no word of this lawsuit in the Wheeling Intelligencer?

  2. Very interesting. If I were the plaintiff's counsel, I would mail out notices to take depositions of J. Davitt McAteer, all board members and the Jesuit trustees.

  3. Speaking of the lack of reporting in the Wheeling newspaper, I have searched the Intelligencer / News-Register and Google News in vain for any news or mention of the election of Margaret "Mimie" Helm as Chair of WJU's board of directors. When she first came on the board in 2005, WJU issued a statement saying that she graduated from WJU with a bachelor's in history in 1984, worked as an salesperson for Bell Atlantic, and was employed as a "customer service specialist" with Verizon.

Does Ms. Helm have any other qualifications to be Chairperson of the University board of directors or to lead the University's presidential seach committee?

To be honest, I don't understand what is going on at Wheeling Jesuit University anymore. I am very concerned for my alma mater.

  4. Well, big news flash: Mr. McAteer is now out as Interim President. That is good news, although the management of WJU is starting to look like the revolving door at Walmart.

Alas, the board of directors is also letting McAteer stay in charge of "Sponsored Programs" where, before the Giulietti catastrophe, McAteer did such a good job managing the finances that federal auditors were called in and a whistelblower lawsuit was filed! Lets hope and pray the new Interim President can begin cleaning up the Augean stables.

The first place to start might wherever the university's press releases are written. They seem to have a little problem with telling the truth. Today's press release on the new Interim President disingenuously states that that Fr. Giulietti "stepped down" in August.
They just don't seem to get it, do they?
